The mission of the Veterans Organizing Institute (VOI), a program of Common Defense, is to support the leadership development of Progressive military veterans. Our vision is to develop a network of diverse former service members with a sophisticated political analysis and practical organizing skills. By providing convening spaces, advanced training, and opportunities for hands-on issue campaign work, we believe we can cultivate long-term Progressive veteran leaders who will play a crucial role in reshaping the long-term American political landscape.

This Fall, VOI will convene our first climate-focused training for veterans working at the intersection of clean energy, economic equity and climate justice. This VOI will offer participants the skills to take action in support of a clean energy transition that benefits working families, and to elevate diverse veteran voices to protect our communities and our country from climate change.
